what happened to the prank calls on howard stern
Did whatever sort of legal action take identify against The Stern Show for Richard and Sal'south prank calls? They seem to be far less frequent or close to nonexistent these days.
I've always assumed that something happened backside the scenes when it comes to the prank calls Howard used to constantly accept on the evidence. I don't know if he just felt it was getting old as content, or if the prove got sued past somebody who was goofed on. Anybody know anything about this?

They call into alive radio shows nowadays specifically because they don't need to go consent to air information technology.
level 2
This is the answer, but the consent is needed before making the phone call.
Several times people have posted links to a police that states for a prank call to a person, they need permission before making the call. That permission isn't needed if the person they call is already broadcasting.
I'm too lazy to look up the reference. I was skeptical information technology was true until I read it myself.

They can't play a call on the show without expressed consent of the person being pranked, so at that place is lilliputian chance of being sued.

He did take the lawsuit to deal with from that IRS drove affair where he allow that persons personal info go out over the air, and I'm certain he settled it and paid. OP has a bespeak I tin can see him getting gun shy on annihilation phone related later that. Seems like a pussy move Howard would pull.
level 2
Considering the person being pranked is an histrion there is piddling doubt of that. You accept to become permission Before you start recording not later.

No need for Sal and Richard when they've got the comedic stylings of Chris wilding!

If they call someone and record the call they demand permission. People don't realize when they call these net radio shows they can simple record the show'southward stream and they do not need to get permission as they are not recording the phone telephone call. They just play the clip from the bear witness itself.
level 2
It was in public, they didn't need permission.

He was sued recently by someone who's phonecall to the IRS was heard live on the prove. At least the IRS workers part of the convo was heard as he was on hold waiting to be on the HSS while dealing with the plaintiff on the phone at his function. That might have reminded him of his vulnerability.

Zero chance of legal action since they always become permission. New ones pop up from various podcasts quite often still, but they're certainly not as common as days past. A lot of people rag on Howard for the direction the evidence has gone over the final decade or so, but I'm a fan. Then again, I'm not sitting at that place critiquing each prove and comparing information technology to what would have happened in 1998. I just savour the show for what it is. My only complaint is that there is no obvious successor being groomed for when HS finally does hang it up. I'd like someone to have a show like to Jay Thomas' evidence who would interact with Stern at times, simply really just be the replacement in waiting. HS might not allow that sort of affair though, as he's always been worried about being overshadowed.

Howard has said before that he wants everything to plummet and die without him.
You lot can see him trying to make that happen, and in sabotaging the careers of his staff who get small parts in movies.
He wants them to be dependent on him.

I agree, simply roll with the show. Some skillful some bad. Some days I fast forrad and some I'm, laughing like crazy. In the offset of Sirius I idea Bubba was the successor, but obviously not happening, at least not with Howards aid. (Ps, y'all know Jay died, right?)

There'southward the IRS prank call involving the show merely it seems that acutal real prank calls are washed now that Howard's is PC. Everything is scripted and they use the aforementioned back office callers to create these shitty calls.
level i
all calls had to have been fake considering y'all have to get permission before call, they all sounded similar bullshit to me.

They were half assed and terrible.

Pretty sure they were all simulated (or at least the vast bulk) and then they couldn't have gotten in trouble, probably the style of humor just doesnt work anymore.
level 2
I know for a fact the tradio stuff is real (I've called into those stations before). I've gotten the feeling that lots of the newer calls inside the by few years could be false, but many of the older ones where they chosen into other radio shows or public access stations certainly couldn't have been.
level 2
When they call radio shows and podcasts, they are probably real. You cannot record a person without knowing they are being recorded or broadcasted prior to doing so. And so the calls to businesses and regular people are fake. But a radio show or podcast host knows they are being broadcasted then there is no demand for permission prior to the call.

They still telephone call traditional/bandy shop every now and and then. Pretty sure they called one earlier this yr, just I tin can't remember when.
